The onset of fall marks a special time of year for many sports fans –the start of the National Football League season. This year was exceptionally exciting with the opening of the Las Vegas Raiders new facility, Allegiant Stadium. This brand-new stadium located in Paradise, Nevada right on the Las Vegas strip is a wonder of its own as it can fit up to 72,000 fans at once and had a construction cost of $1.84B. Along with the new stadium the Raiders will also have a $75M, 335,000 square-foot practice facility in Nevada.
Delta Engineers, Architects, Land Surveyors, & Landscape Architects, DPC (Delta) had a role in the design of different custom connections, camera lens netting systems, retractable netting systems, goal posts, and suspended goal posts systems. The camera lens net were used in the stadium and the suspended goal posts systems were used at the team’s practice facility. The primary purpose of using a suspended goal post system in the stadium was to reduce obstruction of view of the game from stadium seats. In the practice facility the suspended goal posts catered to the needs of the players and the equipment required for daily practice routines. In the main stadium, custom connections to the goal post foundations were required to allow the field to be changed from turf to real grass. The Delta Precast group worked with Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. to meet tight deadlines and coordinated with the Engineer of Record to get these projects installed on time. With the date of the grand opening of the stadium being fixed, with no room for delays, the success of these projects was a true testament to the expertise and precision of Delta’s Precast team.
