Project Description

This project created a River Walk between historic Riverow and the Susquehanna River in downtown Owego, NY that was designed to “reconnect” pedestrians with the once-active river corridor while protecting the riverbank from further erosion.

Connections to two village parks and provisions for connecting the River Walk to 16 active businesses were incorporated. Right-of-way acquisition services were provided for acquiring property from 17 owners between the Susquehanna River and the downtown commercial district. This project was awarded the Excellence in Craftsmanship Award from the Owego Historic Marketplace Commission, the Beautification Award from the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce, the Honor Award of Excellence by the New York State Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
