The project includes superstructure replacement with new galvanized steel beams with precast deck panels, sidewalks and Texas Bridge Barrier, substructure repairs, bearing replacement, heavy stone fill scour protection and a temporary on-site pedestrian bridge. Due to high traffic volumes, bridge closure was limited to three weeks by utilizing Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) technology precast deck panels. This was a locally managed, federally-funded, “Bridge NY” project, which mandated use of New York State Department of Transportation design procedures and criteria and an adherence to an 18-month consultant design schedule.
