When confronted with the challenge of renovating the mansion while preserving the detail of the original structure, the County turned to Delta’s high definition laser scanning capability as an efficient way to capture the intricate physical details of the building. Individual “point clouds” were produced from unique scan perspectives and then combined into one seamless data set that fully represented the building and grounds and also served as the starting point for modeling the structure in Revit®. Disruption to normal operations at the mansion were minimal as most data was captured by a single surveyor who traversed the property in a carefully orchestrated sequence. Additional benefits to using laser scanning included the ability to create 360-degree color images and fly-through video sequences.
