he New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) needed to identify and characterize wetlands and waters on several major highway corridors in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York.

As a term contract subconsultant to NYSDOT, Terrestrial Environmental Specialists, Inc. (TES) provided wetland delineation services and collected wetland attribute data on several state highways that traverse the Park. Both sides of New York State Routes 3 and 30, which cumulatively totaled 460 miles of highway, were surveyed.

TES identified a variety of wetland communities along the right-of-way. Wetlands were located using a Magellan survey grade GPS unit. This planning information was provided to NYSDOT in a database using Magellan Mobile Mapper software and ESRI ARCGI
