In February 2018, MLB announced that all 30 teams will install protective netting to extend to at least the far ends of both dugouts with some teams installing netting to each outfield foul ball post. Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. contracted with Delta Precast to design a tension netting system for an MLB stadium in the northeast US. The system consisted of a 13-foot, tie-back tension netting to extend beyond the dugouts. A main cable structure handles the netting to the end of the dugouts where it breaks off and connects to wall-mounted poles in the outfield. A canopy net provides additional protection in the area behind home plate.
