Jackson Generation Power Plant Fire Walls
Jackson Generation Power Plant Fire Walls
The project is configured as two single-shaft natural gas combined cycle units, each consisting of one gas turbine, one steam turbine, and one heat recovery steam generator; with the gas turbine and steam turbine coupled to a single generator in a tandem arrangement, creating more efficient power generation to fulfill the needs of Illinois.
Norwalk Concrete Industries retained Delta to provide structural design computations and shop drawings for various precast concrete fire separation walls. The walls were constructed with 2ft x 2ft x 29ft tall precast concrete bolt down columns and 6-inch-thick precast concrete panels that slide down into a slot between columns. The 6-inch minimum panel thickness met the 2-hour fire rating per PCI Design Handbook, Figure 10.5.1.
