The existing bridge will continue to be used by vehicular traffic until the new bridge is completed when it will be converted to exclusive use by pedestrians & bicyclists. Lightweight construction techniques are anticipated to be employed due to poor foundation soils. This is a locally managed, federally funded, “pass-thru” project, which mandated strict adherence to New York State Department of Transportation design procedures and criteria.
