The existing bridge is a historic 408 foot, two-span, Camelback through truss bridge across the Susquehanna River that was constructed in 1901 and last rehabilitated in 1989. This project provided bridge inspection and load rating of main members and gusset plates, wearing surface replacement, main member and gusset strengthening, stone masonry repair, and approach roadway design. This was a locally-managed, federal-funded, “pass thru” project that required strict adherence to New York State Department of Transportation design procedures and criteria.
