PlanGrid is an Autodesk product that allows for the documentation and organization of data via an online cloud database. This versatile program is especially effective when used in the field to gather information pertaining to existing site conditions, photo documentation, punch lists, and during the construction administration phase of projects. With the ability to access any project drawing or specification on a smart device through the PlanGrid app, the cumbersome task of handwriting notes and observations can be mitigated. Using PlanGrid, you are given the freedom to mark-up and annotate project documents that directly correlate to a task item that is instantaneously created. These task items then can be further identified with user comments, photos, and a tag marker directly on the PDF to pinpoint the location where the observation was taken. Due to the cloud-based set-up, a group team members can utilize the project documents simultaneously, thereby allowing for real-time updates of task assignments across all devices. Once data has been collected during a field outing, task items can be revisited at any time by a user to make adjustments and comments as needed, notify and assign tasks to particular team members, and generate comprehensive reports of compiled information.
