This ARRA-funded project involved design and construction inspection services for the replacement of a single span slab bridge, located at a skewed crossing with the stream with a new three-sided precast box structure on a new alignment to eliminate structural and functional deficiencies, as well as improve the sight distance at the bridge crossing.
Design tasks included alternatives studies, environmental documentation, bridge type studies, public participation, and preliminary and final bridge and highway design.
One of the challenges of this project was to arrive at a solution that spanned the stream crossing at a nearly 40-degree skew, while minimizing impacts to adjacent properties. The construction phase included administration, full time inspection, and engineering consultation services. This was a locally administered project which mandated adherence to NYSDOT design procedures/criteria.
