Delta was honored to be recognized by the American Concrete Institute Central New York Chapter (ACI CNY) for design work performed in conjunction with our project partner Husted Concrete Products based in New York Mills, NY. ACI CNY’s annual awards program recognizes the best concrete and masonry projects in the area while promoting the use of these materials and raising general awareness.
The Creek Road over the Clockville Creek in the Town of Lincoln, Madison County project won the Silver Award for Design and Installation in the Concrete category. This replacement bridge utilized Delta’s innovative Precast Abutment System (PAS). The PAS provided a fast track bridge replacement system that was easy to assemble and was cost effective. The abutment system consisted of a precast footing segments, H-piles, precast panels and precast cap beams. The superstructure consisted of precast prestressed adjacent box beams with an asphalt wearing surface. Utilizing precast elements allowed immediate backfilling of the abutments and eliminated the curing time required for cast-in-place construction resulting in a shorter construction duration and less impacts to the public.
The award was accepted by our Director of Transportation Services, Joe Mieczkowski, PE and Senior Project Manager, Tamer Osman, PE at the annual awards banquet held on April 5, 2017 at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse.
